In The Beginning

Here's the thing about firsts. You have to get them out of the way.

Whenever I start a new journal, or a new sketchbook, it stays empty for like a week because the first page is always so daunting.

So then I learned that you just write something, or draw something, or whatever, and then the next thing is not the first, so it's not so daunting.

Now that's all out of the way! See how nice and easy it was? Haha

  2. A blank canvas is the same way. The first brush stroke is the hardest, then the next one is not the first and therefore easier. At least that's the way it's supposed to be. So why does it always get so hard in the middle? It's sort of like trying to obey all of the commandments all of the time.
